Have a great idea but too stupid to start coding. Rank stuff fast and useful.

My idea is called "rankify.me". My motivation is that I want to know what are the best book/tv show/movie recommendations in my desired genre, and I want to know what relative rank value a specific movie has.
For instance in horror, what are the best body horror movies?

I already know that several review websites like IMDB give a ranking for horror movies. But if you want to filter further by genre, or sub-genre, there's no way to do that.
Am I correct in assuming that the content in those websites is private? I assume it's not open-source and so no one can do this useful work?

But I also want to know what people think rather than some critic's opinion. That is, what does the average person find important and what do they like? And can i trust their opinion? So my first thought is to ask people to rank, say a list of horror movies, but in a specific order such that the best one they like is first, next most liked is second, etc. The people that will rank the stuff will not be able to census or filter by binning based on age, race, religion, politics, etc etc. So I want to know what people at my age, with my race, gender, religion etc like. Otherwise I can't trust their opinion because they're biased or have different priorities than mine.
I also want to compare the "rank" value (a value you can assign to each item after many people have ranked stuff) between different genres and e.g. see interesteting correlations.
Is this a good idea? It sounds like we have a bigger problem that critics shouldn't be the only people giving a rank score to creative work. People should decide. Any suggestion? Any similar website like this that I haven't found yet?
