Why aren't women who don't want kids called 'deadbeats'?

To those who know me, I'm a 31 year old single childfree man. I've never dated a woman who wanted kids, I've always made sure they were childfree like me. <br><br>I was once talking with my friends ex girlfriend. She has 2 kids with another guy and to her, I'm a deadbeat for not wanting kids. Why? I never went around sleeping with every woman, I've never got a woman pregnant and left her to deal with it. <br><br>I've been called a deadbeat for literally doing nothing wrong. I've even been told I should feel 'ashamed' of not wanting kids, but why? I've been responsible with my life, I don't go around sleeping with random women and leaving them to deal with a pregnancy they did not ask for. I've always kept my life on the straight and narrow.<br><br>If a woman doesn't want kids, she is seen as this strong empowered woman who is making the decision not to have kids. But if a man doesn't want kids, he's a deadbeat and a failure of a man.
