Every time I gotta work the front door

It’s always yelling at people who don’t speak English. “STOP. STOP. COME BACK”.

They have no idea what I’m saying. They’re not shoplifting. They’re just trying to go home. They haven’t even seen me yet because they don’t speak the language I’m using and they don’t know to look me dead in the eye and keep walking.

It makes me feel so bad every time. I want to say “hi sir, it’s ok. I know you’re not stealing anything. Go on. See you next time.” But I’m not allowed. Honestly if I said something like that around someone who has been rude to me I might even get a write up.

I’d much rather run after a thief and get to yell, tackle and punch someone than try to talk someone to death and hurt their feelings and embarrass them in front of people. I’ve even yelled “I know you aren’t trying to steal anything” at some lady who looked scared out of her wits and said “I’m sorry” about 10 times without looking back at me.

The way the police talk to people who haven’t done anything wrong is ridiculous. We are suppose to be there to serve and protect.
