ELI5: If I slammed the front door, my mom would yell at me and say “you’re gonna break the door down!” - Why would the door just break?

This is something that’s been on my mind for days and I can’t seem to find an answer anywhere on the internet. My mom always used to say this to me when I would slam the front door when I was little and it never made sense to me. Was she being dramatic?
