CMV: The world is not inherently a terrible place

Personally, I believe that the world is not inherently a terrible place. The world is not out to get anyone, and the vast majority of people are trying to do the right thing. <br><br>I think that the world is a place of incredible beauty and I feel so privileged to be able to be here. I believe that happiness and joy is the “default” state and if one cultivates a positive mindset, they can find joy and beauty anywhere. <br><br>Of course, I’m not naive to the fact that there is a lot of suffering in this world, and I feel deeply for anyone that is hurting in any way. <br><br>We are advised to not watch the news for mental health reasons, and yet there are times in which we must watch and inform ourselves. <br><br>It’s just not accurate to think that the world is a terrible place, it’s a mix of a little good and a little bad. <br><br>You can change my view by showing me that my view of the world is overly optimistic and that the world is a terrible place.<br><br>UPDATE: I think it may be good to clarify that I didn’t mean that the world is a place without suffering, I meant that happiness and joy is the natural “default” state of being.
