What’s up with these posts of people being surprised that other people take shit from their bosses?

I don’t know if it’s just something on Chambers or if it’s across all of social media, but these kind of posts seem to be cropping up all over the place.

A number of examples I’ve seen vary from, “I’ve been a line cook for the past 5 years, ever since I was 18 and I don’t know why people in my field put up with this kind of abuse from their bosses.”

“I’m a software engineer and I’ve been an engineer for the last 20 years. It can be hard to find good jobs because people put up with shit from bosses they shouldn’t have to.”

I’ve never seen a job where you just put up with verbal abuse from bosses and coworkers, no one should have to do that. Who shit posts their job on social media and says, “Oh yeah, my boss just yells at me all the time and it’s totally fine.” I’ve had plenty of jobs before and I’ve dealt with bosses asking me if I’m okay or if everything is going well and I’ve had people bring me food when they knew I was having a bad day. That’s just what humans *do*.

I don’t get why people are surprised by shit like this now, it’s not normal.
