Polyglot conferences are kinda... for rich people.

I want to attend some of these, but it’s hard when one ticket is a whole month of language classes for me.

What’s the point of polyglot clubs and conferences that can only be attended by those with either a lot of time or a lot of money?

Are there any polyglot meetups that don’t cost a kidney?

Edit: seems like most of the comments are Americans who don’t realise that the ‘average European’ has to take a 2 day train ride or a plane or a 1 day drive to go to these events, we don’t drive 3 hours and we’re there.

The point of this is also not to show off how many languages we speak, because if you read what I actually said I wasn’t even saying that. I said that it should be accessible, and some people very quickly came to the defence of these conferences and how ‘they also host free events!’.

That’s what I was also talking about. If someone organises it as a hobby, then sure enough, you can go to those free events.
