A message to those who would defend AI (and by extension, the companies and people behind it)

Dear defenders,<br><br>This is a message to every single person who, when they see someone speak out against any form of AI, insult and berate and attack and make fun of us. This is the message I want to give you:<br><br>**You are an asshole.**<br><br>Why? It’s very simple. AI is a tool that has been explicitly designed and built to steal, kill, lie, destroy, cheat, and deceive. And we all **know** this. We know that it uses stolen works, kills jobs, lies about its results, destroys trust, cheats (in art, music, education, research, law, justice, and dozens of other fields), and deceives (it is incapable of truth). And yet, the moment that anyone says, “Hey, I don’t really like this. I don’t want to use this,” you immediately attack them. You berate them. You call them “Luddites,” and “idiots,” and “stupid” and “retarded.” You make fun of us for not liking a tool that has been specifically designed to harm us.<br><br>Let me repeat that, because it’s important: You are an asshole because you attack us for not wanting a tool that is specifically designed to *hurt us*.<br><br>Do you understand how twisted, how fucked up, how completely insane that perspective is? AI has been designed, built, and constructed to steal, kill, lie, destroy, cheat, and deceive. And yet, when someone doesn’t want to use this tool, you think that *we* are the problems?<br><br>You are not. We are not. **You** are the asshole. **You** are the problem. You are the ones who are actively promoting and defending a technology that is bad, evil, and malevolent. And you know it! You know that AI is all of these things. And you don’t care. You still defend it. You still promote it. You still use it, even though you know that it is designed to hurt us.<br><br>And yet, you still get offended! You take personal offense if we call you an asshole for defending and promoting a tool that steals, kills, lies, destroys, cheats, and deceives. You think that we are the problem because we don’t like this tool. You think that we are the ones who are insane, that we are the ones who are wrong, that we are the ones who are evil for calling out a technology that is (at best) useless, and (at worst) malevolent.<br><br>So let me ask you this: Do you think that people who say, “I don’t want the police to kill me?” are wrong? Do you think that people who say, “I don’t want the government to spy on me?” are stupid? Do you think that people who don’t want big companies to steal their private data are backwards and insane?<br><br>Then why do you attack us for not wanting AI? AI is a tool that is **specifically designed to do all of these things**. It is built to kill jobs, steal data, lie and deceive, destroy art, cheat on tests, and spy on every single one of us. And you know this! We all know this. And yet, you still defend it. You still promote it. You still insult and berate and attack and make fun of us for not wanting AI.<br><br>So no, you are the asshole. You are the one who is wrong. You are the one who is evil. You are the one who is insane. And we are calling you out.<br><br>You are an asshole for defending a tool that is specifically designed to hurt us. And we are not going to stop calling you out. We are not going to stop pointing out the flaws and weaknesses and problems of AI. We are going to keep telling the truth, no matter what you say, no matter what you do, no matter how much you insult us, berate us, attack us, mock us. We are going to stand up to your bullying, and we are going to call you out for what you are: **an asshole.**
