I'm a former anti gunner. I just recently got my permit and purchased my handgun.

So my story is pretty similar to many others who have been brainwashed by the media. But basically I grew up in the Chicago area where guns were like the devil.
As I got older and started reading different articles and doing my own research, I felt I had to purchase a gun. The crime in Chicago is out of control with car jackings and armed robberies. We also just recently purchased a house in a rural area in Indiana which made it even more of a no brainer.

I finished getting everything yesterday and I am so happy I did it and I wish I did it years ago. I'm glad I was able to come to my senses and take my families safety and freedom in my hands. I am now working on getting my wife to do the same and get her permit. I am also going to start taking my son to the range and gear him up. I plan on getting my AR15 soon and a nice 9MM for my wife.
Anyway, just wanted to say that it's a great feeling doing something you never thought you would do. It's not my most favorite thing to do but it definitely makes me feel better having a firearm in my possession.

Edit: Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.
