CMV: The "Christian Right" should be ashamed

You people claim to be followers of the teachings of Christ, that radical hippie that stood up for the oppressed and hated, the sick and marginalized. You people should be ashamed of yourselves: you're the very same people who Jesus stood up against, you're the modern day equivalent of the pharisees. You claim to follow the teachings of Christ, but you do none of the things that he asks us to do. You ignore the beatitudes, you ignore the sermon on the mount, you ignore the parable of the sheep and the goats. You ignore what Jesus has to say about the poor, the sick, the hated, and the marginalized, and instead you focus on the single passage in Leviticus that you think gives you the right to persecute the LGBTQ community. You ignore the things that Jesus says about divorce, about remarriage, and about the love of money. You ignore the fact that Jesus hates the temple, and that the modern day Christian church is exactly what Jesus condemns. <br><br>And despite all of this, you still claim to follow Christ. You have the audacity to claim that you're doing his work. You still claim to be the defenders of the faith, to be the leaders of the body of Christ. You still claim that you're going to heaven, that you're the chosen people. Despite your hypocrisy, your selfishness, and your blatant disregard for the teachings of Christ, you still claim to be his followers. And you know what? I think that's disgusting. I have more respect for the atheists and the agnostics who have actually read the Bible and rejected its teachings, than I have for you Pharisees, you hypocrites who use the name of Christ to further your own ends.
