Why are people supportive of strict gun control but not strict alcohol control?

I'm not the biggest drinker, but I drink almost every day and have for close to 10 years. Nobody seems to care about my drinking habits if I'm not drinking and driving. <br><br>Why can I turn 21 and go buy a 12 pack without a background check or mental health screening? Why can you legally purchase alcohol without a license or registration of any kind? Do we need to treat alcohol purchases the same way we treat gun purchases? The supreme court recently deemed all forms of alcohol bans unconstitutional. Why do we still have dry counties?
