You guys have a lot of questions, so I'll try to help clear things up. I'm not a Christian, nor am I a conservative. My political views are somewhere between Nationalism and Fascism, and I'm not American. The reason I talk about Christianity is because China is undertaking a massive campaign to stamp out Christianity in China, to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars.

Why do I care about China being the next superpower?

Because I live here. But let me tell you, this is not the future you want. It's not as great as it cracks itself up to be.

A lot of you guys are like "But bro China is authoritarian, what about freedom?"

I have none. The way China operates, it's not like a dictatorship. It doesn't send you out to the firing squad for dissent. It's much, much more insidious than that. China doesn't give a shit what you think, as long as it can control you, which it can.

Every move you make, big or small, is monitored. Every dollar you spend, every search you make, every move you make is tracked. You can't even use the subway without your face being scanned. There is a giant camera on almost every corner, and every camera is hooked up to facial recognition. Where you go, what you do, what you say on social media, what you search for, it's all tracked. Every time you take a plane, train, subway, or bus, your face is scanned. Your social media is monitored. Your computer is monitored. Your phone is monitored. Your search history is monitored. Your text messages are monitored. Everything you say, everything you do, is monitored.

China also has something called the "Social Credit Score," which is a score assigned to every citizen that dictates whether or not they can get a loan, can buy tickets to a plane or train or bus, buy real estate, or take out a credit card. You can even be barred from certain restaurants or public places if your Social Credit Score is too low. The score is determined by your behavior, like whether you jaywalk, whether you wear a mask, whether you donate to charity, etc.

China also has something called "Cultural Capital," which is a system in which cultural achievements are capitalized and converted into financial gains. So, your social credit score is directly linked to your financial situation, which is in turn linked to the media you consume. So if you watch Chinese state media all day, you'll get a high social credit score, and make more money, because you're considered "culturally rich." But if you're lazy and watch Netflix all day, you'll have a low social credit score, and make less money, because you're "culturally poor."

China also has a system called "Bai Du," which is the most popular search engine in China. But what most people don't know is that Bai Du is heavily censored, and the results are heavily tailored to what the CCP wants you to see. Not to mention the fact that all of your search history is tracked and recorded.

China doesn't need to throw dissidents in jail and torture them. It's way more sophisticated than that. The way China works is that as long as you're useful and productive, and as long as you keep shutting up and working hard, you'll be fine. You'll be treated well. But the minute you step out of line, even just a little bit, they'll make your life miserable.

Like what happened to me when I posted this on /c/unpopularopinion. I woke up the next morning with hundreds of threatening text messages from Chinese agents warning me to delete the post or else they'll kick me out of university and deport me and ban me from re-entering the country. Or what happened to me when I criticized the Chinese government on Facebook. I woke up the next morning to find that my Facebook account had been banned, and that I was prohibited from opening another Facebook account for the next 5 years.

Living in China is like being in some kind of prison, and you don't realize it until you've lived here for a while.

I'm not trying to scare you guys. I'm just trying to paint a picture of what China is like. The Western media paints China as being some kind of brutal, authoritarian place, but it's not. It's actually pretty nice, at least on the surface. But beneath the surface, there's a massive state surveillance apparatus waiting to crush you beneath its feet the minute you stray.

So don't be like me, okay? Don't waste your time.

Edit2: Wow thanks for platinum, kind redditor.

Edit3: Wow, thanks for gold, kind stranger.

Edit4: Thank you so much for the gold, kind strangers.

Edit5: Wow, this was gold? I thought this was just spam. Thanks so much for the gold, kind strangers.
