You would think that the conservative party would stop trying to force anti-immigration politics when the past 2 attempts have ended in complete humiliation for them. I have no sympathy for them.

They are wrong, they are disgusting, and they lost. They realized that they were losing support when they had a leader that didn’t have any popular, radical policies. They decided to change leader to one that would push anti-immigration policies, the kind that resonated with people in 2016. But they soon realized that they had a problem. In 2016, the Conservative party had a leader that was able to play the role of the clean, eloquent, polite, and reasonable alternative to radical populism. But they don’t have that this time. They have a leader that is seen by the general population as a complete and utter fool. Someone who is not only incapable of being seen as reasonable or intelligent, but someone who is also radicalised to the point of making the most radical populist seem centre left. They had no choice other than to accept that with this leader, they cannot win the next election. So why not play on the right wing sentiment by pushing anti-immigration rhetoric in the next 13 months? They can pretend to be doing something, and shift the blame onto the next leader when the inevitable happens next year.

But then something unexpected happened. The leader decided that this wasn’t enough. He wanted to win the next election, he wanted to be PM, he wanted to be seen as a historical figure. It’s just his personality. He can’t accept losing, and he can’t accept being seen as someone who isn’t historically important in some capacity. So he decided to go all in. Win or lose, he wanted the next 18 months to be about him. He didn’t want to just be the next Conservative leader to lose, he wanted to the one who went out with a bang.

So he went all in on anti-immigration. But what did he have left to offer? Trump was a good example of a man that had great success with this kind of politics. He had the capacity to speak to everyday people. He had the ability to be radical and outrageous without being seen as too extreme for the mainstream. He had a good sense of what everyday Americans wanted, and what kind of radical policies they would be happy to endorse. He was the perfect example, and so he decided to go for it. He decided to use Trump’s playbook.

He pushed extremely radical policies, supposed as part of a ‘war on immigrants’. A war which, judging by the Conservative party’s record, cannot be won. He decided to tweet. He would be funny, intelligent, and witty. But he is none of those things. He tweeted, and it was cringe. Nobody found it funny. Nobody liked it. Nobody wanted to see them. But he didn’t care, he just wanted to be seen.

He is a complete and utter fucking idiot. The whole thing has been a complete embarrassment. He cannot stop, he cannot adapt, he will not change. He is incapable of doing so. He is incapable of accepting that he isn’t an intellectual equal to Trump. He is incapable of accepting that he isn’t an American. He is incapable of accepting that it’s 2024, not 2016. He will not stop until the next election, when he will lose with such embarrassing numbers that his leadership will be remembered for generations to come as one of the most humiliating and pathetic in our countries history.

Oh, and he still thinks he will win.

Edit: I’m British, I forgot to mention that the entire post has been talking about the UKs Conservative party and their leader, Rishi Sunak.
