My father use to work in restaurants. He showed my 7 siblings and me how to properly scrub dishes.

Dad use to go around the table and say, ‘does everyone have their work?’ Then he looked at us and said, ‘now who’s gonna do the dishes?’ We all pointed at the clock in the kitchen. We all did the dishes before we got to bed - even on weekends. We had a 2 basin sink. It was divided by a thin metal piece. One side was filled to about 6 inches hot water - we added cold water later. We added 2 tablespoons of dish soap. We use to get a lot of left over food in the dishes my dad brought home from the restaurant - we had dogs for years, but my mom threw them away when my dad retired. When my mom retired, I stopped getting dogs. We scrubbed the left over food off and returned the dishes to the clean side of the sink. After we finished washing the dishes, we washed the sink - only the scrubbed side. We did not wash the other side of the sink. We scrubbed the dishes and rinsed them in the clean water. We did not put dirty water in the clean water. We washed utensils and cups in the sink. We left a little warm water in the sink. We filled the sink with cold water - about 6 inches. Then we washed the dishes. We rinsed the dishes in the clean side of the sink and placed them on the drying rack. We did not dry the dishes. When the sink had all cold water, we dumped the water in the other side of the sink. We scrubbed the dishes with a new sponge. Then we washed the dishes in the cold water. We placed the dishes on the drying rack - we did not dry the dishes. We now dumped some hot water in the dirty water. We did not add cold water to the sink this time. We scrubbed the dishes with a new sponge. We washed the dishes in the warm water. We rinsed the dishes in the clean water and placed them on the drying rack. We now dumped the warm water into the clean side of the sink. We left a little warm water in the sink. We filled some warm water in the sink. We scrubbed the dishes. We washed the dishes in the warm water. We rinsed the dishes in the clean water and placed them on the drying rack. Now we placed a new sponge in the sink - each wash, we got a new sponge. We dumped the clean water and the dirty water in the disposal. We washed the disposal with cold water and let it run while we washed the dishes. We now scrubbed the dishes with the new sponge. We washed the dishes in cold water. We rinsed the dishes with cold water and placed them on the drying rack. We did not dry the dishes. We dumped the cold water in the disposal and ran the disposal for 10 seconds. We filled the sink with cold water. We added 1 tablespoon of bleach. We washed the dishes in the cold water with bleach. We let the dishes sit in the sink. This is how we got spotless dishes. We always had spotless dishes. We did not dry the dishes - after the dishes finished drying, we put them away. We had a lot of dishes. We always had rice with dinner. We always had bread with dinner - it was always a new bag of bread - we never left bread out on the counter. We always had a new jar of pickles on the table - mom always told us to finish the jar before we opened a new one. We had a lot of dishes. We did the dishes after dinner and breakfast. We did not put lunch dishes in the sink. We washed lunch dishes by hand.
