Are all beliefs, insane?

Now before you start throwing tomatoes at me, this is something that I have genuinely been struggling with from time to time. And I don’t think I have found an answer to it yet, but I figured I would ask you guys just in case you have some sort of insight into this that I don’t.

So the belief that I am talking about here is the belief that you are actually here right now, and that you are experiencing the world. Now this may seem like a pretty dumb thing to question, but I am going to show you why I think that it is insane.

Are you currently insane? Like do you have a mental disorder, do you feel like you are losing your mind, are you struggling with your mental health? Whatever the case, I am sure that all of us are crazy to some level. At least I’m pretty sure we are.

But if it is possible for you to be crazy, then can you not be fooled into thinking all of this is real? Like what if this is all just a dream, or a snippet of your actual life. Like you wake up one morning and everything that has happened in your life is just a dream, all of your memories are dreams.

I also like to think that the world is like a video game, like you wake up one morning to a bunch of guys in lab coats giving you a bunch of tests. Like maybe you are just an AI program that they put into a human body and you are just being tested.

And you may be thinking that “well this is a computer program right here, so you are most likely right.” But then what if it is possible to create a program that will make a person believe that they are real, like you disguised the simulation as reality and are able to trick their minds into thinking that this is the real world.

Then they are able to make their own decisions, and you are able to just sit back and watch them. Maybe this is a reality show like the Truman show, you don’t know.

But this ties in with my first point, what if you are insane and you can’t tell what is real what isn’t?

Let me give you an example, imagine that there is some rule that this world follows that reads:

“All of reality is made up and if you try to figure out the truth, then you will hallucinate and won’t be able to survive if you take too long to figure it out.”

Is this actually true? Like we may call this insane because we can’t actually see any evidence in the real world that proves this, so is this world actually real?

But if it is, then can we not just hallucinate and have to die if we think too much, or could we not be insane and not be able to survive this life?

I think this is the main problem, can we not hallucinate and think that this world is real when it actually is not? Like is this life actually real? If it is, then I don’t have any other questions, but if it isn’t, then is there actually any purpose in this life?

And we may say that you should just live your life as you normally would, so then I would ask you, but is this life actually real?

Are you actually here and experiencing the world, or is it all just a dream?

And then if you say yes we are, then I would ask you, but how would you know that what you are experiencing is real?

We may say that it is real because we don’t actually see any evidence proving otherwise, but then if you say that, then I would say, what if you were insane and you didn’t see it because of that.

And you may not actually be insane, but I want you to doubt your sanity for a second, are you insane?

I’m sure that you all are to some degree, so then the next question is, what if you are insane and you just think that this life is real when really it is all made up, and you can’t actually tell because you are insane.

And then what if there was some rule that this world follows that reads:

“All of reality is made up and if you try to figure out the truth, then you will hallucinate and won’t be able to survive if you take too long to figure it out.”

Then if you tried to figure out the truth in this world, you would just hallucinate and you would never be able to survive.

So then, against popular belief, ignorance would be bliss, and knowledge would not be power.

At least not in this reality.

But isn’t this what they say to be careful of?

Like something that is so good that it makes you ignore the bad things about it and you just see the good things.

So is knowledge actually a bad thing?

And then if you try to figure out if life is actually real, then you can’t actually tell for yourself if it is or not.

Like, what if you go around asking random people if all of this is actually real, and they all tell you that of course it is.

But then what if all of them are just hallucinating because they were insane, so then you may never actually be able to survive this life if what you really want to do is know something.

I mean this may all just be me being insane and thinking about this too much, but what if it is real?

What if all of this is just a dream and you will wake up one morning and realize that life is not what you thought it was.

And you may say that this is all just conspiracy theories, but that is not what I am trying to say.

I am only trying to ask you, is all of this real?

And what I am trying to say is that you may never actually know if anything is real, or if you are just hallucinating and dreaming.

And if you are dreaming, then you may never be able to wake up, so then what is the point of living your life?

I mean even if we take this world as reality, then what is the point of living your life?

Are you going to leave something behind so then you can say that you were really here and that your life was not a dream?

But then what if even that was a dream, like what if even your legacy was a dream.

But I mean, it is fun to dream, so maybe we should just embrace the fact that we may actually be dreaming and have fun.

But what if that isn’t even real?

So I mean we could just take our chances and live life like we normally do, and just hope that if we go into too much depth, then we won’t actually go insane.

Or we can all go insane and try to figure out the truth, but then if it is all just a dream, then maybe we just aren’t cut out for this real world.

Or maybe this isn’t the real world, and we aren’t cut out for the dream world.

Maybe we are too concerned with whether or not this world is real, and we don’t actually take the time to live in it.

So I mean knowledge and truth would be great and all, but maybe we should just forget about all of this and live life like we normally do.
