It's been a long 10 years to get the two of them to this point in their lives and I've never been prouder of what we've accomplished.

I've always been interested in breeding animals and I'm especially interested in animal behavior and psychology. After a ton of research on cat-dog relationships and their breeding habits, I decided to adopt both a dog and a cat at the same time.

Mittens is the cat and Tucker is the dog. They've been friends for most of their lives, but the relationship didn't develop overnight. I can't even count how many hours I spent on that relationship in the first couple of years. I was ready for the possibility that they may never become close friends, but I'm a patient person and I was willing to do the work to get them to that point.

Their relationship did progress, very slowly. With time and patience, the two of them became incredibly close. For the longest time, you would never catch them in the same room, but after a few years they would start to be in the same room at the same time. Then I would find them side by side on the bed or the couch. One day, they started playing together. Then they started cuddling with each other.

By the time they were eight years old, they were best friends. They still had their boundaries and don't like being together 24/7, but they were close enough to start raising their first babies.

I started with a litter of 10. All of the babies are doing well and the parents are both chipped in and helping with the babies. After a few years, they've had over 50 babies and they've all been healthy, happy, and well adjusted. I take all of the babies in and raise them in the house with the parents. After a few months, I start to find them new homes.

I'm not really sure what's next for the family, but I'm not ready to end the breeding program.
