What voice acting company should I hire for my Duolingo clone?

Once you get rid of English and break out into advanced languages like Spanish, French, and Russian, then you really need voiced audio for the chatbot. It’s a bit odd if it sounds like it’s being read by an American, and the other problem is that the Duolingo TTS service is a bit of a black box that only works 50% of the time.

I was going to go with Fiverr Professional, which is quite expensive, but then I looked at Voice123 and VoiceBunny. I haven’t looked at Voices.com yet.

Voice123 is a bit annoying because you get lots of people responding to your ads, but then you also get lots of people saying they’ve received my ad by mistake, and then you have to go through a process of removing them from your list.

Voices.com is probably the most professional, but given their professionalism, I assume they’re also the most expensive.

VoiceBunny has a very nice and simple way for you to pick your voices, and also they don’t require you to “bid” on each one of their talent, so I think I’m going to go with them.

I didn’t look at Upwork because they’re just so expensive and difficult to work with, and besides, it’s not really fair to hire someone to be a voice actor on a freelance contract, since the work is sporadic and ongoing, and then you have contract and IP issues with any kind of freelance contract.

I’m also a bit worried about the copyright issues with the voice acting files. Do these companies assign all the rights to me, or is it something more like licensing? I don’t want to have to pay them royalties….

Note that the chatbot is going to be saying phrases like “That’s terrific!” and “Wonderful!” and “I see you’re not very good at Spanish, maybe you should try Russian!” okay maybe not that one, lol…so it’s not your average voice acting gig, but given that I’m not using any model, I don’t see why it should be a problem.

Edit: I have to hire someone to voice act the chatbot because it will also be speaking Russian and Chinese, and they must be native speakers to do those correctly.
