Has anyone in this community been in the opposite position, being forced to make a sudden change to going from frugal to not?

I'm not referring to lottery or inheritance windfalls. But say, something like a drastic career change that would require a lot of spending out of my budget. I'm genuinely curious if anyone would have advice or anecdotes from that experience.
