Just had a recent incident where I parked in a parking lot in northern Virginia that was in a more shadier area and my car was broken into and stolen while I was armed and in it.

I felt terrible. I thought that having a gun meant that I was completely safe from anything. But the incident taught me that a gun isn't a catch all solution to keep you safe.

I have a CCW, but I don't carry 24/7. Just when I think it's dangerous. In this case it didn't even matter if I was armed or not because they smashed my windows and pulled me out before I had the chance to react.

My car is still missing. I'm still sad about it, but I learned a lesson that a gun is just a tool. I now keep my car in my garage when not in use. I am also more mindful of my surroundings and other stuff.

So this is my story, it's sad because I love my car, but I learned something about being more mindful of my surroundings.
