Why are we being asked if we know of any reason why a priest should not be ordained?

I’m going to a family event where a distant relative is being ordained and at the beginning of the ceremony they ask the congregation to speak up if we know of any reason why the priest should not be ordained. <br><br>I know this is an old Catholic tradtion but in the present day, who would actually stand up?
