AITA for serving my 4 year old niece a pretend burger, which she didn’t like and told her parents?

UPDATE 2.5 years later

A couple of months after posting, my sister and her husband apologised.

We continued to have Christmas at our place and she was cool with the plastic food. Both kids ended up playing with the plastic food much more than the real food.

We continue to have a good relationship with them and the kids.

Thanks everyone for your comments

UPDATE:

Thanks everyone for your comments. My sister and I have been chatting since my post.

She says she was just trying to teach Chloe a lesson, in not to waste food, but she didn’t think it through.

We have both agreed to teach Chloe and her brother to try things first before asking for a different meal.

And if they are full and can’t finish, then that is fine.

AITA for serving my 4 year old niece a plastic MacDonald’s hamburger?

My(28F) sister(33F) and her family are visiting from another country.

Her husband(35M), and kids (Chloe 4F) and Jack(6M) have been here for about a month so far.

I have 2 children (Hannah 11F and James 7M)

My sister’s kids spend most of their time at my house while my sister is out at appointments and running errands.

I am a SAHM to my 2 kids and she is a SAHM to her kids.

So I am home with all the kids, while she is out and about.

My niece has started asking for fast food/takeaway a lot.

She asks for MacDonald’s or kfc a lot.

I don’t like giving my kids fast food/takeaway. They don’t get it everyday. And Chloe has been getting too much since being in the country.

So I came up with the idea of buying plastic pretend MacDonald’s burgers from a toy store.

The first time Chloe asked for MacDonald’s, I said fine.

I gave her a plastic chicken nugge and plastic fries and plastic MacDonald’s burger.

When she realised it wasn’t real she screamed and cried.

When she calmed down I asked her if she wanted a real meal, and she said yes please.

She ate the whole meal and then had dessert.

A couple of days later she asked for kfc.

I said ok, and served her a plastic bucket of kfc.

Again, she got very upset.

Again, I offered her a real meal.

She ate what I prepared, and again had dessert.

When my sister got home both times, Chloe told her about the plastic food.

My sister was very annoyed with me.

She said Chloe would stop asking for takeaway if I just stopped giving her plastic food.

AITA for serving Chloe plastic takeaway food?

I think it’s a good teaching method, as she has stopped asking.
