I read a short article and I'm going to copy-paste it.

From The Daily Mail:

Women are no longer better off "marrying down" than they are "marrying up," a new study on the impact of male earnings on marriage has found. According to new data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), for the first time in history women are now better off in relationships where their male partners do not work at all—and are entirely financially dependent on them—than they are where their partner is the breadwinner.

The ONS found that married women who were the sole breadwinner were more than twice as likely to be poor—17.8%—than those in couples where neither partner worked, which was found to be 8.5%. The next poorest were women with working husbands whose salaries were less than half that of their wives, at 10.5%, followed by women with high-earning husbands at 10.2%.

The least likely to be in poverty were women whose husbands didn't work at all but had an independent income, such as inherited wealth or investments. Just 3.4% of these women were considered to be struggling financially, according to the ONS.

The study also found that women whose husbands "married down" were the most likely to be in work themselves as well as the most likely to be worked long hours, with just 46.5% working part-time and 12.8% working more than 45 hours.

In contrast, women whose husbands "married up" were twice as likely to be in part-time work—89%—and more than twice as likely to work under 16 hours—34.5%. Meanwhile those with husbands who earned significantly more than them were the most likely to quit work completely, at 42.2%.

Women whose husbands didn't work at all but were independently wealthy were the most likely to work full-time—67.4%—despite being the least likely to be in poverty.

It’s now a better offer for men to marry down.
