The concept of "work" is an unnecessary evil

In my opinion it is ridiculous that society has been built in a way that a person must "work" in order to earn money in order to live and be in society. "Work" often sucks. I'm sure even Elon Musk would rather not be CEO and do absolutely anything else. Why is he forced to if he has all the material needs in the world? It is the fault of everyone else for placing that burden upon him and others.

I think Jeff Goldblum said it best when he says "your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."

We have the technology to produce as much food as we need to feed everyone. We have the resources to house everyone. We have the medical technology and treatments to cure most illnesses. Why must we all still "work" and play by the rules of the economy in order to have these basic things so that we can live and be in society? That's insane.

There are obviously people who love their jobs, but why should they be forced to do it? Why shouldn't they be free to pursue leisure if that's what they want? Imagine how much better we'd all be at our jobs if we could choose when we have time and energy for work, or if we wanted to work at all.

The biggest problem with our economy is that it forces us to our jobs, to our desks - it forces us into these roles that we never chose; it forces us to waste so much time and energy doing things we don't want to do. It keeps us from the things we are truly passionate about. It prevents us from making meaningful connections with other people because we are too tired and busy with our own meaningless careers. It prevents us from making good decisions in our personal lives and hinders proper decision making in our careers and causes us to make decisions based on economic influence instead of what is best.

The concept of work should not exist. Everyone should have access to food, water, shelter, healthcare, etc. We all only get one chance to live our lives. If you want to contribute to society you should be free to do so, but you should not be required to or else face death and homelessness or live paycheck to paycheck in poverty.
