I'm actually really sad at the "suddenly ordinary humans are geniuses" take

I got really excited about AI because it seemed like we were on the cusp of a revolution in productivity. It felt like magic had just entered our lives. It felt like we all were about to become geniuses. <br><br>I'm actually sad to see that all that is happening is that everyone is getting a slight productivity boost, but none of the superpower fantasies are happening. <br><br>I want better scientific research, I want better medicine, I want better governance, I want better creative output, not crappy AI deepfakes of dead actors. <br><br>I don't care about people getting AI to do their work for them. I care that we're not going to get any high quality output with AI.
