After 3 months learning Italian, I felt that it was my first time truly talking in a foreign language

I'm a Mexican and since childhood I've been interested in Italy, but I've had a hard time getting into the Italian language. I was already working to learn three other languages, and I felt that Italian was "too easy" compared to German, French or Portuguese. But this 2024 I decided to give myself the chance, and I've been studying since January this year.

Yesterday, I had the chance of attending an event in which a lot of italians were present, it was a huge opportunity to practice the language. I was really nervous, but I had a good time, and when I felt confident enough I started to talk in Italian.

I had struggled a lot with French pronunciation but Italian was a lot easier. I could say all the words that I had been practicing, and I felt as if I really was talking. I could understand (and respond) to questions like *di dove sei?* and *how long have you been studying Italian?,* and the entire time my brain was just going *wow, I'm really doing this.*

I finished high school in 2018, but I started to learn German on 2019, French on 2020, Portuguese on 2022 and Italian on 2024... and I never really had the chance of practicing my pronunciation in a real conversation (with the exception of Portuguese, which my grandpa started to learn and we had a few conversations in that language).

It was an amazing feeling. All my life I've been a bookworm, an awkward and introverted kid from a little town in Mexico, and I was able to talk in Italian, make jokes and laugh.

I'm sorry if it's a weird post, I'm still on the high of yesterday's experience, but I'm feeling very content about this, and I wanted to share it.
