CMV: If someone told you the honest truth about you, you would never be able to handle it. If you were able to handle it, you wouldn't need to be told.

Let's face it. We're all cocky and think we can handle anything that gets thrown our way.

Bullshit.

If you were able to handle the truth about yourself, you already know it. So there's nothing more to say. If you can't handle the truth about yourself, being told will just make you defensive or upset. So there's nothing more to say.

So let's stop asking for blunt honesty (from our friends and family, that is. I'd be happy if doctors and politicians were forced to tell the truth). We already know what they think about us, and I'm sure we've all already felt a bit uneasy about our perception of ourselves at times. People who need to be told what others think of them are just lazy and don't want to put in the effort to self-reflect (and listen to their own self-doubt and inner voice).

CMV.

(Also, people who work in customer service, I feel you.)
