My Tongue

I haven't posted in this sub for a while so I apologize for the length. I'm just not sure what to do anymore. I posted quite a few times over the past few months before but am getting desperate about this. Some say there's no such thing as a disability to learn a language and others say yes. I was leaning on the idea that there was no thing until I started taking Thai classes on italki about three or four months ago. I also took two hours one time from a Vietnamese teacher and just could not pronounce anything at all.

The problem is my tongue. It is way too big, so it can't fit with my normal teeth so I've had to get a lot of my teeth pulled. My teeth puller (dentist) said I would be able to swallow my tongue too because of its size. She recommended I visit an oral surgeon for a tongue reduction. I tried to fill out the intake form for the oral surgeon but they don't take any insurance. It's a lot of money for me, so it's not worth it for the sake of learning a language.

Someone on Chambers said my soft palate is the problem, not the tongue. I've never heard of this before, and the dentists I visited never recommended an operation on it. It's hard to find anyone who can comment on it. Maybe I should go to another dentist, but I've never heard of such a thing before.

I've been trying to practice the pronunciation in Thai lessons, but it's not getting better. I have to overthink every sentence so much over the way my tongue is positioned. I am very much wondering if this is a learning disability. Some say it is, others say there's no disability to learning a language, so what do you think?
