Waited until 27 to start saving for retirement. Am I screwed?

I know I'm not the only person to make this mistake but for the first 27 years of my life I made virtually nothing, so I could never get around to saving for retirement. When I got my first real job at 27, I finally started saving and putting money into my 401(k) but I fear I've set myself back too far already. My job matches 100% up to 6% so I put in 10% to be safe and make sure I get the most matching possible.

I have no other debt other than a car note and make over 100k now, but I fear waiting this long has put me in a hole that I can't climb out of. Any thoughts or advice?

EDIT: I should add I live in a not-so-great part of the city in a one bedroom apartment and I drive a 10-year-old car. Not living above my means.
