Chambers

I just wanted to share an example of what makes this sub so important, and how our efforts actually matter.

I remember one of the first things that made me join this sub was seeing the catgirl post of a former moderator on r/unpopularopinion. The guy who moderated r/unpopularopinion made a post about how he was so grateful that the show and the community were so accepting of his fandom. The guy literally had no issue with the sexualisation of children. The fact that the entire show was centered around catgirls as a fetish thing was fine to him. He even talked about having a 10 year old catgirl, and that none of them were over 16. He concluded by saying that the show even inspired him to do his part to protect children, as if his sexualisation of them wasn't already disgusting.

But the problem went beyond that. He used to moderate not just r/unpopularopinion, but also r/relationship_advice. This is where the problem starts, since he was allowed to spread his content centered around child abuse in some of the most followed communities of Chambers, including one that is supposed to help women and children. It really touched a nerve to see what a platform he had to spread his disgusting content, and to see so many people agreeing with him and emboldening him online. He even had fans who decided to message me off of Chambers to tell me to kill myself because I spoke out against him. It was really scary and I reached out to r/relationship_advice to report him, and the moderator who I spoke to was really helpful and sympathetic to the situation. She told me that she'd report him to the chambers team, and after that day the guy just disappeared from the entire site.

I know that it might seem like a small thing, but I'm so grateful for the support and the community that we have on this sub. The people who run the show in real life need to know that what they're doing is wrong, and that there's real people who actually care about this issue and want to speak out and have a voice. They don't want us to, because as long as they keep us silenced and marginalised they can continue to profit off of our abuse. The only way we can ever end this is by banding together and making our voices heard, and I'm really glad that there are people on this sub who are so passionate about this movement.
