My bf and I found out the cost of our separate car insurance with a dumb mistake

Anyway I (F29) was driving my bf (M30)’s car the other day and I got a speeding ticket. I called his insurance to add myself to the policy so I could report it to our DMV and get a traffic school certificate. <br>I asked what the premium increase would be… Apparently, adding me to the policy increases it by $66/month.<br><br>Then the insurance agent asks, what about adding him to YOUR policy? <br>So I thought it’d be the same number but nope. It was $380/month. So much that it actually brought down his premium more to do that instead of keeping it separate.<br>I called my insurance to confirm and the quote was the same.<br><br>The really dumb part is that we’ve been together 9 years and NEVER thought to compare our insurance costs. He has always had lower car insurance costs than me and I just assumed it’s because of my gender. So there’s the stupid mistake of the day..
