The pistol that killed a country

# Introduction

The glock 19 is not the pistol the killed the USA, rather its the pistol that killed our sense of choice in firearms. Both worlds over, there is a massive shift towards glock 19 style firearms because of their light weight and larger capacity. This shift is in both the civilian and the police/military markets. There is a decline in popularity for larger pistols like the glock 17 and the 1911 as they simply weigh to much for their capacity. What used to be the standard side arm capacity has changed dramatically since the 40s and 50s when it was a 6, 8 or 9 shot pistol or revolver. In the 80s and 90s with the adoption of the glock 17 and the glock 19, the capacity jumped significantly with the glock 17 carrying 17+1 and as for the glock 19, it carried 15+1. Although, I think these capacities are still a bit small in my opinion, it was still a massive jump.

This shift towards a more glock 19 style pistol is why larger pistols have become a bit obsolete. This is why I have seen a significant decline in the sales of glock 17s and 1911s. In my opinion, there are only a few use cases for a larger pistol than the glock 19. These include:
1. hunting
2. target shooting where accuracy is of greater importance than recoil
3. your pistol is probably your primary weapon because you don’t have the means for a rifle

# The Problem

I personally don’t like glock 19s. They are a fine pistol and do their job well, but I just personally prefer larger pistols. There is a reason why police and militaries around the world have their soldiers carry larger pistols. Thats because they are superior to smaller pistols because of their capacity. The problem that I see with the massive shift towards the glock 19 as the standard pistol is that because it is smaller and more concealable. I personally don’t see a need for a pistol to be concealed, especially if it is just for home defense. If you have a concealed pistol, then you probably aren’t very prepared for a threat. Just have a larger more practical pistol.

I personally like to carry a glock 19x. It is considerably larger than the glock 19 and holds an additional 4 rounds. In my opinion, this is a better choice than a glock 19 because the extra 4 rounds will probably not affect the concealment of the pistol very much as you probably didn’t put enough effort into concealing it in the first place. In my opinion, if you do choose to conceal a weapon, it should be larger and not smaller.

I personally believe that we should be working on making larger capacity pistols that are acceptable for the military and police. That way, we can be better protected instead of smaller pistols.

# Conclusion

In conclusion, we should be working to make larger pistols more practical instead of smaller ones.

Edit: grammar and spelling fix.
