The pro-AI side has been promising a utopian future for decades (and decades), and instead of that, we have all these new AI systems that do a bunch of completely unimportant things, such as writing BS articles about nothing, generating AI porn, generating more BS images that were completely unrequested because people thought they could sell them as real art (and failed), and so on.

Not to mention all the jobs that have been lost on account of automation. I've seen all sorts of posts about how "the economy needs more automation" because it would create jobs and improve everything, but the reality is the opposite. Automation is not being used to "improve things for the common man", it's being used to generate more profits for corporations (even when it's an overall loss for society).

So, should we just give up on the idea of Artificial Intelligence?
