I am a Republican who grew up in a conservative household. I cannot believe any of you still support Trump.

To those Republicans still supporting Trump, I beg of you: please come back to the light.

I grew up in a conservative household, in a city of over a half a million people that voted for Trump in the last election. My family has been Republican my whole life. My grandfather was chief of police in my town for over 30 years, and he taught me the importance of law and order and conservative values my entire life.

But today, I cannot believe that any Republicans still support Donald Trump.

Today, two former high-ranking officials in the Trump administration (one was chief of staff) came forward and endorsed Joe Biden. Mike Santos did so because Trump *is attempting to subvert our democracy*, and John Kelly has come forward to state that he would’ve *quit had he known Trump was going to teargas peaceful protesters for a photo op in front of a church*.

Just this week, the *Washington Post* reported that Trump had *misappropriated millions of dollars in donations to pay for things like Deer Urine perfume for his voters* (this honestly still feels like a joke to me).

Not only that, but Trump has *essentially admitted to trying to block testing for the Coronavirus so that he wouldn’t have to tell voters how bad it was*. That’s over 140,000 Americans dead because of Trump’s inaction, and his attempts to keep us in the dark. I honestly do not know how anyone can see this as acceptable behavior for a President of the United States.

Further, I have to ask: how many of you actually believe the election was rigged? Do you actually believe that Trump wouldn’t be screaming at the top of his lungs at Deb Haaland and the Democrats if he thought he was going to win? Do you honestly believe that *a man who said he’d accept the results if he won* is now being blocked by Democrats because of widespread voter fraud? Do you actually believe this?

There is no proof of widespread voter fraud, and at this point, most of you know it. We all know that Trump is trying to subvert the outcome of the election, and that he is trying to block transition funds to Biden to harm his ability to get Coronavirus relief out earlier. This is nothing short of unprecedented, in my opinion.

I am still a conservative, and I still have faith that Biden will not be a bad President. In fact, I think he’ll be a decent President and probably one of the most centrist Democrats to take office in the last fifty years. He’s already signing executive orders that will attract moderate Republicans and Democrats alike to his cause. This is a man who has worked across party lines before. I trust him to do that again.

If you are still supporting Trump at this point, I do not know what to say to you. I truly don’t.

The man is attempting to subvert our democracy and undermine hundreds of years of tradition in this country by attempting to block the peaceful transfer of power. If you still support Trump, I encourage you to come back to the light. Not because I have any enmity towards you, but because after all of these things have happened, if you still support Trump, I am worried for you.

No one should stand behind a man who tries to undermine our democracy like this. It’s time to realize that as Republicans, we were wrong about Trump. This man has shown himself to be a power-abusing, corrupt, authoritarian who is trying to undermine the results of a democratic election.

It’s time to admit that we were wrong, and that it’s time to move on.

**Edit: thanks for the feedback, guys. I know it’s a minority opinion in here, but I wanted to stand up for our country’s democracy. It’s clear that Trump is attempting to block the peaceful transfer of power, and that is, by definition, a coup. He is attacking mail-in voting, which we know is a staple of democracy. He is attacking the legitimacy of an election that is being watched by millions of people and has wide bipartisan support. All of his arguments have been debunked and discredited by courts of law, and he is trying to bypass the election results by going to Republican politicians in swing states. This is nothing short of a coup. For any of you who still support Trump, I ask you to come back to the light and return to the democratic principles that our country was founded on.**

**One thing I’d like to note is that, yes, this is a chamber for people who would like to see a reduced foreign influence in our elections. However, I am not arguing for that. I am arguing that Republicans need to stand up against Trump’s efforts to subvert our democracy. I realize this is a minority view, especially on this chamber, but I would still like to hear your thoughts. Thank you all for your feedback.**
