Can I sit on a 12 gauge shotgun?

This is part of a bigger project, I am required to remove the loading lever to prevent the action from shutting (or opening) and I am planning on shortening the end of the barrel and I was also planning on removing the stock to give it quite a modern look. I have seen pictures of people sitting on a shotgun and they appear to be fine, but they were standing in the mud and I am going to be sitting in the water. Will it be OK?
