My (M24) girlfriend (F23) has grown distant after I got beat up defending a group of girls being harassed

About 6 months ago, I was out with my girlfriend (then 22) at a bar drinking and just hanging out. We were sitting at the bar talking when a group of 5 girls walked in. They sat down next to us and we started chatting with them. After about 10 minutes of chatting we noticed across the bar there was a group of 5 guys just staring at them. They were clearly creeped out by it, and my girlfriend suggested we go to a table and the 7 of us could sit there. We did, and a short time later the group of guys came over and sat down at our table. They were being very loud and rude, asking them very inappropriate questions like "Are you the type to suck dick?" and "you know what I wanna do to you right?" They were trying to not make a scene and just telling them they weren't interested, but the guys just kept pushing. Wearing them down with comments like "Come on baby just give me a kiss." I kept telling them to stop, but they told me to mind my own business. I stood up and told them to stop. The next thing I know I'm on the ground with one of the guys kicking me in the stomach, another one punching me, and a third one grabbing my hair and slamming my head into the ground. I don't know how long I was unconscious, but when I came to my girlfriend was sitting next to me holding my head in her lap crying. She stayed with me at the hospital that night. The next day when I told her I was going to file a report with the police, because one of the other girls wrote down the license plate of the car they left in, she begged me not to. She said stuff like "I don't want them to know it was me who did it." and "What if they come after me?" And I knew she was just scared so even though I didn't want to I told her I wouldn't file a report.<br><br>Since that happened she has grown a lot more distant. She doesn't sit next to me like she used to, or even cuddle me like she used to. And when we talk she just kinda seems hollow. I don't really even recognize her anymore. I've tried to talk to her about it, and she just says she's been stressed with work and that it has nothing to do with me.<br><br>I'm really at a loss as to what I can do here, because I don't even think she knows why she is acting this way. Should I just give her the space she seems to want? But how much space? How long should I give her? I still don't even know why she is acting like this.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br>TL;DR: I stood up for a group of girls being harassed and got beat up. Now my girlfriend who was there acts really distant towards me.
