The 46th President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, has won the popular vote and the electoral college vote. Having been inaugurated on January 20, 2021, the previous administration is now gone. We now have a new administration.

If you support the ideals of this sub, we welcome you as a valued member.

In the next few months we all have work to do. President Biden will need our support in many policy creating areas, including:

* Tax reform
––– Going into the 2020 election, the president inherited a 9 trillion dollar budget deficit from his predecessor. The previous administration spent money recklessly on border walls, student loan bailouts, and other vanity projects. The budget has clearly become unsustainable. This needs to change.
* Immigration reform
––– We currently have a very broken immigration system. The previous administration created a humanitarian crisis at the border, where detained migrants were being separated into adult, female, and male categories without record of what was happening to the children and where they were going. Without reform, our country risks losing our role as a beacon of hope to immigrants and refugees from around the world. We need to make sure that America remains the land of freedom and opportunity for all.
* Student loan reform
––– Here in the US, we have a huge student loan crisis. Over 44 million Americans have student loans. Some 40% of those with student loans, are delinquent on their payments, meaning they are behind in payments or have stopped paying altogether. Many of these loans were taken out using a federally guaranteed student loan. In order to make college more accessible and to give young Americans a chance to make a better life for themselves, we need to reform our student loan system.
* Pandemic relief
––– As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to ravage the world, our country’s economy is literally on the brink of collapse. Businesses are forced to close because of lockdowns, and people are unable to afford to pay their bills because their employers have either shut down or laid them off. Our healthcare system is also at a crisis point. Without emergency relief, we are on the cusp of a second Great Depression. We must work together to create a better life for all Americans.

We have much work to do in the weeks and months to come, but for now, let’s celebrate this momentous day. Come January of 2025, President Biden will no longer be in office. Let’s make sure that we are all prepared for that day, and not caught off guard like we were back in 2016.

---

This is a day to remember. Take a few moments to appreciate the work that got us here.
– No one thought that Hillary Clinton would lose in 2016, but she did. In 2020, no one thought that Joe Biden could beat Donald Trump. But he did, and he won BIG.
– In 2016, the Democrats took only 2 seats from the Republicans, gaining no ground in the Senate. Democrats also LOST ground in the House, losing 6 seats. In 2020, Democrats beat expectations, with two seats in Maine and Arizona going blue.
– As we moved through 2020, our momentum only grew stronger. We only lost one seat in the House. Democrats had momentum on their side, and we ended 2020 with a strong blue wave.
– Despite all the Russian propaganda and the COVID-19 pandemic, Democrats came out on top in 2020.
– We won in Arizona and Pennsylvania, two states that have voted Republican in recent years.
– Republicans lost two seats in the Senate. Democrats are on track to win both of the runoff elections in Georgia, which will give us the majority in the Senate.
– The previous administration spent 4 years trying to destroy our country, but in the end, they failed. The big takeaway from the 2020 election is this:
Our Democracy Works.
