My boyfriend refuses to be intimate with me until he loses weight

My boyfriend and I have gone out for 2 years. We are each other’s firsts. We have been sexually intimate for 1 year. He’s always had a healthy body. Not ripped, but not out of shape either. Until maybe a few months ago.

He’s put on a lot of weight, and I think it’s because we’ve been quarantining from the real world.

Anyways, we’ve had sex before (maybe like 3 times? We usually just do other things). But now I’m starting to miss it. I finally asked him if he wanted to have sex, but he said “no”. He said that he doesn’t want to make love to me until he’s a more physically fit, so he can feel better about himself and look better.

I know that he makes fun of himself a lot. He calls himself ugly and I have to constantly reassure him that by the grace of god, he’s so physically good-looking. But he never believes me.

Anyways, so I got angry at him for saying that and I told him that I want to make love to him, and that I think he’s so handsome regardless of his weight, but he said that I’m just saying that because I’m his girlfriend. He said that he needs to lose weight before he’s in any position to be romantic with me again.

I’m getting anxious. I feel like I’m losing him because he doesn’t feel good enough. I’ve reassured him so many times. I don’t think it helps that he’s insecure about his little tummy.

I don’t think he’s ugly at all. I want to be with him regardless of his weight. I don’t know what to do. I love him so much and I won’t let him slip out of my hands.

He’s not overweight by some standards, but I would say that he’s definitely a chubby guy at this point. He has a lil chubby stomach and his cheeks are not as defined as they once were. But I mean, that’s okay. I love him and I would do anything for him. I want to help him.

What should I do?
