If you can't taste the food you're making, there is no point in cooking

I’m a little sick and right now, all my food tastes like salt. Which is a little better than the previous couple of days when all my food tasted like soap. And the couple of days before that when everything tasted like nothing at all.

But I still make dinner. Every day. Roast chicken, homemade tomato sauce, braised beef, homemade chili, roasted vegetables you name it. Why? Because I have people to feed. Family. And they are still working, still going to school. They can still taste food, so I feed them. I get to spend time in my kitchen, thinking about the recipe, thinking about what ingredients to use, thinking about THE TASTE.

I always have three people I am cooking for. Myself, and the two people I am feeding. I cook for myself, because I love cooking. And I cook for them, because they love eating.
