Is this a good outline for an epic fantasy story?

New writer here. I've been working on this fantasy world for a while now and I have a basic story outline. I've been reading The Last Kingdom to get a sense of how to write from the protagonist's perspective as he experiences the action, and The Hero's Journey to learn more about character arcs. This is what I have so far:

**The Story Outline**

* Prologue - A leader falls in battle against the dark forces.
* Act 1 - The Rose Rebellion: 10 years after the prologue the new leader is defeated, and the dark forces rule the land.
* Act 2 - The Gathering Storm: 12 years after the fall of the rebellion our protagonist comes of age to become a mighty warrior, meanwhile across the land other legendary heroes are preparing for war in their own way.
* Act 3 - The Scouring of Darkness: leaders from the four corners of the realm unite to start an epic campaign to defeat the forces of darkness and retake the realm.
* Epilogue - 10 years after the war, the realm has been rebuilt, the legends we grew to love go their separate ways, and we learn of what our protagonist has become.

**The World**

* Archipelago with 400 islands. Most of the realm is in the tropics.
* There are 4 kingdoms. One is like ancient Greece, one is like ancient Egypt, one is like ancient Polynesia, and one is like ancient Sumeria.
* A council of the 4 kingdoms, with the 4 Chiefs of the realm, was defeated at the very start of the story. The council is now defunct and the realm is ruled by a dark sorcerer.
* Built up a lot of lore and characters already.

**Protagonist**

* The protagonist is Mary Sue-ish. He's an orphan, he's super strong, he's destined for greatness, he has special powers. I'm working on making him more nuanced so that you would care about him, but he would also be someone you'd love to hate and root against.
* He will fall in love with 2 other characters, one from each side of the war.
* In the end he will have an exalted fate, and will be the one to defeat the dark sorcerer.

**Concerns**

* I don't like that the protagonist is so overpowered. It's hard to write a story with tension and conflict when he has so many advantages. I like that he's a great warrior, but he also has magic and a mystical destiny, so I'm worried that it's too much.
* I'm worried that the story is too formulaic. I know that in epic fantasies you have to include certain elements, but I want to make sure I have a fresh take on them. I'm thinking about it a lot, but I could use some brainstorming tips.
* I'm worried that the story starts too slowly. The first third of the book is about our protagonist coming of age and finding out who he is. It's a lot of character work in those early chapters, and I'm worried that will turn readers off.
* I'm worried that I'm biting off more than I can chew. I'm a new writer and I'm setting out to write something that is The Lord of the Rings, The Wheel of Time, and The Malazan Book of the Fallen all in one. This story is going to be big, maybe too big. I don't want to spend years on this and then realize I don't have the follow through to finish it.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading. I'm excited about this story and I'm working on it every day. I'd love any feedback you can provide.

**TLDR**: What are the top 5 things I should focus on for my new epic fantasy story?
