Primed horses solved the commutes in my world

So this is something I kind of stumbled upon while worldbuilding. I have a treehouse city with a rather long road leading up to it. For the longest time I struggled with the commute of the people that were living in the treehouse city. I wanted to avoid a medieval situation where people would spend most of their lives in the city and only travel out to nearby farms every now and then. The commute needed to be accessible for the population, but also not too futurey.

I tried many solutions:

* Ropes between the treehouses: This had some problems since it would be really slow with every treehouse having to make a new pulley system to use this.
* Aerial lifts: I had to throw this one out because it just doesn't really make a whole lot of sense - I would have to get the lift all the way down, then the lift all the way back up to the treehouse, which is just way too slow.
* Cartriages: This was what I stuck with for a while, but not only is it the most environmentally unfriendly option, it would have to start from the bottom of the mountain and make a long, difficult journey up to the treehouse city just to do it all again in the opposite direction. It just wasn't sustainable.

The best solution I found was primed horses. I didn't want to just start with basic horses, so I decided to use primed horses, where special horses are used (the prime in primed comes from prime mover - basically a machine like a bicycle that's powered by humans) and are able to travel at around 30-40 km/h(18-24 mph). This is quite a lot faster than your average commute, although it is still slow.

The advantage of primed horses is that it has a very low environmental impact, as it is a human powered form of transportation, and it allows for large amounts of population to move in and out of the treehouse city, making it an actual city and not a village.

What I have done is most people live down at the base of the mountain in a nicely planned out city, and commute up to the treehouse city for work. There are some people that live in the treehouse city who have a short commute, but mostly it is just more luxury homes.

If you see any errors or inconsistencies, please let me know.
