I've been a police officer for 14 years in a large urban city. Never once have I, nor any of my co-workers ever had a problem with body worn cameras. We realize that cameras are small probes into our jobs to see what we really do. I'm ok with that. If you wear a body camera and you do the job correctly then you have absolutely nothing to worry about. There is no reason anyone should not want one on their uniform.

When I'm doing my job correctly and treating everyone with respect then there's no reason to not want to record myself doing it. I'm truly confused as to why any officer would have a problem with wearing one.

I hope every police agency goes to wearing body worn cameras. It will cut down on the police misconduct and wrongful death claims.

Edit: Thank you for the support. I'm glad there are a lot of positive feedback. Yes I realize that there are some bad cops but that is such a small percentage. I'm not trying to discount what happened in Minnesota, Louisianna, Atlanta, and Buffalo. Those were horrible and the officers involved should be punished to the fullest extent.

I guess my point is that the police in general are not out hunting down people to hurt them. If that were the case then the number of deaths at police hands would be significantly higher. As an officer I have been trained to help people. Control a subject if necessary but never to do anything with malice.

Also, I'm not saying that reform isn't needed. Sometimes you need to be shaken up to realize that there is a problem that needs fixing. I think that this might be a good kick in the ass to make things better.
