Has anyone ever been caught by a loss prevention officer?

If so, what happened? I'm just wondering because I've heard mixed things. Some people who've been caught on camera by an LP have said that the police will never show up, so they let them go. But I've heard other stories from people that got caught by an LP in the store, and they're in a room being questioned.
