For my CMV, I am going to argue that Hillary Clinton was a bad politician and that her loss was not entirely because of sexism. The points I will be bringing up will be about her qualifications, her corruption, her campaign strategies, her mistakes, and comparisons to Trump.

Hillary Clinton is a career politician with a history of public service. She has had her hand in almost all of the recent political events. However, being a career politician isn’t inherently good, and you can bring up examples of Nepotism and Crony Capitalism. Furthermore, she has failed in many of her pursuits. When she was first lady, she tried to reform healthcare, but failed. She did help pass the State Children's Health Insurance Program, but overall her attempts have been mostly in vain. As Secretary of State, Hillary was the architect behind the Libyan intervention. Yet, she was also head of state when Gadaffi was killed, so the power vacuum that followed was also on her. Furthermore, when she was Secretary of State, she had an email controversy. She was found to use her own private email address to transmit state secrets to her workers. Furthermore, she did not hand over the emails until two years after the investigation began. In addition, she did not immediately inform anyone of the hack. Lastly, she knowingly broke the law, and then lied about it. She was the first first lady to be subpoenad in 1996, and has also been known to attack her husband’s accusers.

Hillary was also a bad campaigner. The reason why she beat Sanders in the primaries were because of super delegates. She also lost the popular vote in the democratic election. When running in the general election, she focused too much on vilifying her opponent and not enough on her own platform. Furthermore, she didn’t have much of a platform to run on. She didn’t want to make college free, or healthcare universal. She was also too busy trying to prove that Trump was a bad candidate to talk about her own merits. She also didn’t campaign enough in important states like Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Michigan, which cost her in the election. She was also too focused on urban areas and cities, and did not go out to the more rural areas. She focused too much on identity politics, which limited her appeal to minorities, but largely excluded the working white class. The white working class and rural workers would have benefited from a democratic president, but because she didn’t speak to their looming issues, they felt ignored and went to Trump. She also has a lot of baggage. She was seen as a typical politician, and ran for president at a time when people wanted a political outsider as president. Furthermore, her corruption and baggage ruined her. On Election Day, 60% of the voters believed that she was corrupt. In fact, the biggest issue for voters was corruption. In fact, the majority of voters said that her baggage was a bigger problem for them than Trump’s baggage.

Now, I am going to address the issue of Trump. Her baggage was a bigger concern for most voters than Trump’s. In fact, before the election, 60% said that she was corrupt. At the same time, only 50% believed that Donald Trump was corrupt. Furthermore, through polls, we know that the voters acknowledged that Trump was a flawed candidate. However, they also believed that Hillary was more flawed and corrupt. These polls demonstrate that it wasn’t just sexism and misogyny that caused her to lose. Furthermore, Trump was the first candidate to ever run for president without any form of elected office or military experience. He was a businessman, and ran as an outsider to politics. Hillary, on the other hand, was a politician for life. And yet, she lost to a political amateur. In fact, she was the better candidate by far. While she lost, she was still an experienced politician. Yet, she still lost to a candidate who didn’t know the basics of government. Trump has acknowledged many times that he believed himself to be a bad politician. Yet, he beat the better politician.

In conclusion, Hillary Clinton was a bad politician. She is corrupt, has too much political baggage to win a presidential election, and has failed in many of her pursuits. She is a career politician that is out of touch with the American people. She has too much baggage and is seen as a typical politician. She was a bad campaigner who focused too much on her opponent and not enough on her own merits. She also ignored large sections of the country, which were the reasons why she lost.

Edit: In progress

Edit: I am back from dinner, and now I will go through the comments. I am trying to go through each comment, but there are a lot. In addition, I am also trying to see if you are right, and if you have changed my view. I am going to start from the top, and then work my way down. I have not yet read all of the comments, but I have decided to do them in batches.
