I am old (57) and I remember when you could get a credit card with no annual fee, no foreign transaction fee, and all kinds of rewards. I have one Capital One card that I've used for years traveling abroad with no issues. Now, even Capital One is changing their cards so you have to pay $95 per year in order to get their best card with no foreign transaction fee.

No thank you. I can use my money better than lining their coffers.

So I went to my credit union to see what they offered. Their best VISA Signature card has a $99 annual fee as well as a 1% foreign transaction fee. It's just crazy.

It used to be the credit card companies made their margin in interest from people carrying debt. They must really be hurting with that because of all the people like me who pay off our balances monthly. The banks are just getting greedier and greedier now. How is it that we have to pay more just to use their service?
