I just started writing a fantasy novel, and I am not sure what to do with this one issue.

The thing is, I am a LATAM person, and I want to include slang and regional expressions in my book. I know that many readers may not be familiar with them, but it's part of who I am as a Mexican and it definitely adds flavor to the dialogue.

Do I explain the words? Or should I assume that readers will look them up if they don't know them?

I want to incorporate my culture into the story, but I also don't want to alienate readers who aren't familiar with the terms.

What are your thoughts on this?

TL;DR: Should I explain regional expressions or assume readers will look them up?

*EDIT: I am not asking if I should include this expressions in my work (I already have decided to include them). My question is about whether to translate them or not, or how to handle it.
