What is with the current anime trends?

Every single thing has to be either an isekai, a battle royale, or a high school "comedy" with a bunch of super quirky, obnoxious, and overly annoying characters. Then theres the 1000 more or less identical shows about idol boy/girl groups. The only differentiating thing about these shows are the hairstyles and eye colors of the characters... <br><br>What happened to all the variety we used to get? Where are all the anime like Akira, Berserk, Paranoia Agent, Ergo Proxy, Phoenix, Texhnolyze, Serial Experiments Lain, Mirai Nikki, Death Note, Parasyte, et al. Now those are some great anime that stick out from the crowd in a world overrun by isekai crap. Now you can only find one or two shows per year like this, the rest is just spew after spew of samey isekais like jobless reincarnated into a fantasy world with his smartphone, or the reincarnated convert into a plant that absorbs slime day after day to level up his OP stats and overkill dragons and other maniacal beasts that threaten the land.<br><br>I swear, if the next anime season doesnt bring some new interesting stuff and not just the same old same old, I might as well be out of this fan community for good... I dont know how much longer I would be able to entertain myself with the same old bland high school murder battle royale isekai fantasy dampening world with the reincarnation of a smartphone and the 1000 other identical repeats of this formula.
