Does anyone else feel like their parents exaggerated what being an adult is like and now they feel let down?

I grew up in a family where the parents made us feel like we owe them for giving us life. The things they said were along the lines "you should be grateful we gave you life and let you stay in our house, you don't know how hard it is to be an adult, wait until you're grown and you'll see how hard it is."<br><br>I'm 22M now and I feel like being an adult is not that hard, it's just like being a teen but without the restrictions. The only restrictions are affording rent and bills. But I feel like I could easily get by with a minimum wage job, it's not hard. I guess I'm just disappointed because my life didn't change that much after turning 18 and it's not as fun as I thought it would be.<br><br>I feel like my parents exaggerated about how awesome it would be to be an adult because they wanted me to take them seriously, but that's not the case at all, it's just monotone routine.
