How come Japanese animators hate anime fans?

The main thing I learned from the anime industry panel at Anime Expo was that most Japanese animators fucking hate anime fans.<br><br>One of them flat out admitted that he didnt like anime fans. Another said "If you want to make money as an animator, just give your money away" (meaning donate to your crowdfunding projects because they aren't making enough money). One gave stats on the dismal nature of Japanese animators, such as 80% of them make minimum wage or below, and the average age of animators in Japan is 29 and most quit after 1 or 2 years. These kinds of things, but all in a real dry, blank, emotionless tone, like they are resigned to their fate. They also said they would rather you experience anime culture by going to Japan and experiencing their customs and food and interacting with them, rather than buying anime merchandise online. It was almost like they were saying "fuck you, i hate anime fans, I dont like you buying my merchandise, fuck off"<br><br>What is the deal with this? Do Japanese animators not like anime fans? How come they seem to be so disconnected from the anime communities? I thought their job was to make the content we watch and like, but they did not seem very happy that thousands of us showed up to watch their content. They dont seem to like any part of it, and it makes me wonder why the fuck they get into the industry in the first place.
