I have the same job as before, working at the gas station. When I was 19 I met a girl at a party. I was an alcoholic, but she helped me get clean, we dated for 8 months before she cheated on me with my friend, but we got back together after he ditched her and she claimed to love me. She even got my name tattooed on her. But 6 months later she cheated again with my other friend, so I dumped her.

But 2 weeks ago she was at my work. I was working the register and she comes in, we haven't seen each other in 2 years, and I pretend I dont remember her before she reminds me we used to date. I tell her I remember and she asks why I'm acting cold. I tell her it's because she cheated on me twice and she tries to say "It didn't count because we were on a break." Except we never were.

We argue and I yell at her to either pay or leave and she tries to guilt trip me into letting her go because "I love you". I'm angry and tell her "if you loved me you wouldnt have cheated" and she says "I wont pay because you wont make me". This is when my manager comes out and hears what's happening. He secretly escorts her out and then comes back to explain that he had to call the police because they have a no Toleration policy for people trying to get out of paying which she was doing.

She's getting charged with attempted theft, and this is the part where I might be the asshole. I just so happen to have her number from back in the day and she sends me a long text apologizing for cheating and also for trying to not pay and asking me to drop the charges because she's scared of what her parents will do. I tell her this isnt my choice and she begs me to call my manager and ask him to drop the charges.

I tell her I wont do it and she demands I do because she loves me and I'm the best thing that ever happened to her and that cheating doesn't count because we were on a break and I point out that we were never on a break and that I think she needs to stop using that poor excuses. She gets upset that I wont do it and accuses me of trying to ruin her life on purpose and says she wont talk to me again after telling me to "fuck off".

I thought nothing of it until my coworkers see her post on Facebook saying I'm and asshole for getting an innocent person in trouble and I'm just trying to ruin her life out of spite. I post my side and a screenshot of our text conversation to explain I'm not the asshole here.

Most of my friends and some of her friends believe me while others are calling me an asshole for ruining her life because I wouldnt do her a solid. AITA for not doing what she wanted me to do?
