The guy I met on the subway

I was on the subway last year, listening to music and reading a book, when the train suddenly stopped working. The lights were flashing and everyone in the car had to evacuate and walk down the tunnel to the next station.

As we were walking, there was a guy around 35 years old walking next to me and asking me all these questions. Like "Why does your left eye look like it's turning away from your right eye?" (I was born cross-eyed but had surgery when I was a kid). Or "Why are your eyebrows crooked?" And "Why does your hair look like that?" (I have a perm but I didn't tell him that). Or "What's the name of your perfume?" (I wasn't even wearing perfume). This guy was asking me all these questions and telling me all these facts about myself that he had observed. I thought it was weird but he seemed friendly enough.

After we got to the station, I sat down on a bench there, and he sat right next to me. We talked some more and I told him I was going home to my husband. But he said he didn't believe me because I wasn't wearing a ring. And when I said I didn't like to wear my ring because of work, he called me a liar and got angry.

I actually got a little bit scared because he was getting irritable when he was asking me more and more questions about why I didn't have kids at my age, what my job was, what my birthday was, where I lived, what my neighborhood was like, etc. He seemed to be getting more agitated the more I talked, but he also seemed interested. I thought at first he was being flirtatious, but now I'm not sure.

I told him I had to go to the restroom, and he said he would come with me, but I got up and walked the other way. The bathrooms were closed, so I went up to the street and called my husband to pick me up. The guy was waiting by the staircase when I came back down, and he yelled at me for trying to ditch him, but I said I wasn't trying to ditch him, I told him I was going home. Then I left the station and waited outside for my husband to come pick me up.

I keep thinking about what happened. It was so weird. I don't know what he wanted from me. And the weird thing is, he was actually a pretty good-looking guy. I might have even been interested if he had approached me in a different way.

I told my husband and some other people and they all think I should have called the police. But I didn't think he was doing anything illegal. I was just weirded out.

So yeah. I wish I had never met that guy on the subway.
